What did we do before the internet.

I got some gunk on the CCD of my Digital
Camera so yesterday I took it in to Ted’s D’place for Digital thinking they’d go like “No
problem we’re D’place for Digital and can have that cleaned for you, it’ll take n days.. will you be paying with cash or gold bullion”. Nyet. Not how things went.

“Sorry we don’t do that, there is a place in Melbourne that does it”…
So can you organise that for me?…
“No”… Do you carry some kind of specialized cleaning kit that does it?…
“No, the place in Melbourne does though”. He gives me their URL.

URL doesn’t work. Google. Site is first in results — site is useless. Google nikon+ccd+clean. The First result has detailed
instructions with links to recommend products.

The brushes are a bit on the expensive side
and I’ll have to pay through nose to get FedExed from Canada. The
Other Thing has reseller in Melbourne, Will I be able to buy online after lame “regisiter to be our client” palaver? Totally not sure so no credit card transaction or over night post, but all done in around 5 minutes.

What did we do before the internet?

And who elected Melbourne the capital of digital camera cleaning stuff!? (and why do they have such broken web sites?)
