This
wouldn’t be so disturbing but for the fact that in about a week I’ll
be stepping off an aeroplane in Los Angeles International Airport
where I’ll promptly be finger-printed and photographed, my identity
digitised and stored in some database — accessible to god knows who.

Why do I find it disturbing? Mr D. Reed Freeman, Jr’s employer, Claria Corporation, makes its money by installing spyware and on-selling the harvested information to the advertising industry. Mr Freeman comes from a pretty low base it would seem.

While not in the same league as some other US appointments it’s worth noting the trend.

While we are on the subject, I had thought I would make it through life without ever being finger-printed. I thought that it would only ever happen if I did something seriously wrong rather than simply not being American.

…while we are on the subject, I sincerely wish my Prime Minister didn’t have his tongue head quite so far up George Bush’s arse.
