On the move
I’ve abandoned the last day of eTech because the conference has in-explicably retired to a bunch of rooms which cannot accommodate all attendees! Unbelievable. One is either standing jammed into any odd crack of space or locked out simply by the lack of it. I’d be more than a little pissed off having spent a considerable amount of money to attend them—not to mention air travel and an expensive hotel—was it not for the fact that eTech has been pretty hit and miss anyway. Mostly miss.
The theme of the conference was “The Attention Economy”. I’m no wiser about this subject now than I was before this conference. If the sessions I chose to attend were any thing to go by then ETech was mostly about Web2.0, Social Software and javaScript yada, yada, yada… with more that one presenter simply just mentioning the word Attention as if to say “There. I said it, lets move on…”. Maybe I was just unlucky with my choices or maybe these things are somehow self-everdently The Attention Economy?
This is not to say that the thing was an entire waste of time or money, it wasn’t, but I’d think twice about attanding again for these and many other reasons.
P.S. I’m still on the trail of The Attention Economy and I’ll be attending this event and hoping that the fog will finally part.
