Is The Fold still relevant?
I’m just winding up work on a Financial application. One of the primary design goals of the IA seemed to be maximise space; i.e. get as much as possible above The Fold.
Forms in this app currently are implemented completely opposite to those suggested by the conclusions of this study. The obsession with the ideal that content needs to be placed above the fold at all cost also continually tossed me against the bounds of accessibility, in my opinion unnecessarily.
Is The Fold still a relevant concept?
