30 Years ago today…
30 Years ago today I was a cameraman for Channel 9 News in Sydney and working an early shift on some story in Parramatta. About 8:30 or so we were called off to cover something which had happened in Granville.
I can still vividly recall walking up Bold Street to the bridge. It really did take a moment to register what I saw - that the etire concrete span of the bridge (and the cars on it at the time) had collapsed onto a moving train.
I was on the scene for about 24hrs when the last body was finally freed from the wreckage.
That ABC site brings back quite few memories, I can also remember walking off a RAAF C130 at first light on Boxing Day morning 1974 into this.
