How long is it now before we get another chance to try and vote these unbelievable pricks out of office?
If my government won’t help the guy could they please stop trying to do everything than can to prejudice his so called “trial” — or are they just resigned that this show trial already has a verdict so they can’t really do much harm by speaking for the Prosecution so publicly?

As I understand it the “old” charges had to be dropped 6 months ago because the US Supreme Court ruled that the process under which they were brought was illegal. Why is he still in custody? Why does the Australian government support his detention without charge? Why do they go out of their way to rebut Hick’s legal team’s efforts to plead his case?

…Australia, she says, is “the only country that seems to have come out and said that the idea of trying somebody, their own citizen, before this process might be OK, and I think that should be a concern to anybody”.

Update: Interestingly the Sydney Morning Herald is now redirecting the article which prompted this post to a significantly re-written and re-titled version. Now when you use that URL it is silently redirected to the article at: http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/bush-cant-be-trusted-democrats/2007/01/20/1169096013348.html which is titled “Bush can’t be trusted: Democrats” which is significantly watered down and has shifted the emphasis away from Downer’s dummy spit directed at Hick’s Lawyers which was the main thrust of the original. I wonder if the weekend editor got a call from one of Downer’s head-kickers…?
